Ananta kandali etc. all obeyed Shankardev as religious preceptor (Guru), because Shreemanta Shankardev was the donor of knowledge about the visible and invisible matter & non matter of the world. Right from the time of Shankardev, the four essences Guru (Shreemanta Shankardev), Dev (God Krishna), Naam (Krishna Naam) and Bhakta (human race) have been continuing spontaneously. Here, Guru is Shreemanta Shankardev, dev is the omnipotent God Krishna, Naam is the Krishna name and Bhakta denotes the human race. The omniscient God Krishna is called as science, the donor of special complete knowledge, the Krishna name is called as tadanga and the human race is the propagator of mysterious glory of omnipotent. therefore, Guru, Dev, Naam and Bhakta is the four pillars on which Ek Sharan Hari Naam Dharma is established.
