After that all compositions of Shankardev, his activities, teachings, philosophy, his doctrine Ek Sharan Hari Naam Dharma and his new cultural stream have established him as the world preceptor Shreemanta Shankardev. He studied four vedas, fourteen scriptures, eighteen puraanas, fourteen grammers, Mahaa bhaarat, Sanghitaa etc. in Mahendra kandali’s school and on completion of formal learning, Shankardev at the age of seventeen years came back home. According to the principle of forefathers Shankardev had to take the administrative responsibility of “Shiromani Bhooyaan”. He became well known as the expert administrator and for this credibility he was known also as “Dekaagiri”.
ABOUT THE FOREFATHERS OF
SHREEMANTA SHANKARDEYV :
The fourth forefather of Shankardev was Chandeebar and the ancestor was the habitant of Kanouj (Lakhnou) in Uttar Pradesh. In thirteenth century when Chaahaabuddin attacked Delhi and Kanouj, then Chandeebar accompanied by twelve braahman and twelve kaayastha family, left kanouj and arrived at Gour state (West Bengal). Dharmanaaraayan the King of gour state had given huge properties to the fourth forefather of Shankardev and allowed to dwell in the state. According to the Biography of Shreemanta Shankardev it is stated that there had been conflict between Durlabhesvar the King of kamataapur (in Assam) and Dharmanaarayan the King of Gour state, and ultimately friendship was established. The king Durlabhesvar wanted seven kaayastha families and seven braahman families for his state and the king Dharmanaarayan also consented in this matter to keep the strong friendship between the two kings. Thus the kaayasthas started living at Lengeraamaaguri and latter they came to Bardowaa area of Nagaon district of Asam and settled there. Kusumbar Shiromani Bhooyaan was the father of Mahaapurush Shreemanta Shankardev. The immediate forefather of Kusumbar was Sooryabar. The immediate forefather of Sooryabar was Raajadhar and fore- father of Raajadhar was Chandeebar. According to ancient social structure, the position of Kaayastha was in between the Brahmin and Kshatriya. The Kaayastha were land Lord, abled administrator and were expert in intellectual field. They are known by title as Bhoumik in West Bengal, Bhooyaan (Bhuyan) in Assam, shree vaastav in Uttar Pradesh and Bihaar and Jaisi in Nepaal.
FROM EIGHTEEN TO THIRTY ONE YEARS OF AGE :
