britishers. The scripture Geetaa is the soul of Indian culture. At last by taking the principle of non-violence with strong faith, Mahaatmaa Gaandhee was able to make India independent. It can be called as victory of the scripture and defeat of the weapon. The movement for independence of India which was directed by Mahaatmaa Gaandhee on the principle of non-violence, will remain as the rare example in world-history.
If the principle of violence was followed, it would have been a serious hurt on the soul of Indian culture and the Indians would have been recongnised in world history as the worshippers of violence.
Mahaatmaa Gaandhee mentioned in the context of “Geetaa” that the scripture Geetaa is free from all kings of religious superstitions. He stated that the Geetaa is the scripture which is full of morality and practical analysis with logic and the scripture satisfies both the intellect and mind-stuff of human being. Again on the matter of prayer he mentioned that, to do judicious work in daily life is the highest level of prayer to God. He mentioned about non-violence in the following way –
“I have been practising with scientific presision, non violence and its possibilties for an unbroken period of fify years. I have applied it every walk of life, domestic, institutional, economic and political. I know of no single case in which it had failed.” He ststed that his non violence is the non violence of brave and not of coward. Because there is possibilities of violent person to become non-violent, but there is no possibilties of a coward to become a non-violent person. Because coward does not listen to the soul, for which he dies many times before death.
He innovated the Panchayatee Raaj system in order to establish equalitarianism in society. Gaandheejee took practical step to establish panchaayatee Raaj by eradicating land-lord system of India. Therefore, the system of panchaayatee Raaj found place in the constitution of India. Today’s India has got the fruit of this system, and as a result each panchaayat has become a mini parliament. Ultimately decentralisation of power has come into being and each and every citizen has been sharing the good result of this system of governance.
Mahaatmaa Gaandhee stated that in India democracy will succeed only after attaining hundred percent lirteracy.
About Svaraaj or Raamrajya he mentioned in following way –
“Swaraaj for me means freedom for the meanst of our countrymen. Real swaraaj will not come by the acquisition of authority by a few, but the acquisition of capacity by all to resist authority if abused.” He stated that swaraaj will be meanigful in true spirit when every citizen will become self sufficient in his basic need.
