The composition karatala kamala ………… was his first step and his drama chihna-yaatra was his second step in the direction of cultural refor- mation and propagation of Ek Sharan Hari Naam Dharma. It is to be mentioned that Shreemanta Shankardev is the first amongst the high quality classical singers and lyricists of the world.
During his period, Brajabhaashaa was the link language of India amongst the states of Assam, Bengal, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Bihaar etc. That is why Shankardev promised to establish a strong Indian culture by composing ankeeyaa Naatak and Bargeet in Brajabuli language. During the period of pilgrimage, Gopeenaath of puskar pilgrim, Raadhaa Sannyaasee of vrindaavan Rup Sanaatan, Vrindaavan Daas, Raam Kshatriya of upadvaarakaa were the scholars who obeyed Mahaapurush Shreemanta Shankardev as their religious preceptor (Guru). Besides that during his one year stay at Jagnnaath Kshetra, he impressed the common masses along with disciples by analysing the scripture “Brahmapuraan”.
Thus on completion of twelve years pilgrimage he return back home and on request of relatives he at the age of fifty four years got married tc Kaalindee. After that Shreemanta Shankardev, the founder & propounder of Ek Sharan Hari Naam Dharma, went to different places of As sam like Routaa. Gaangmou, Maajulee, Dhoaa Haat belguri, Kumaarkuchhi, Paatbaausee anc Madhupur thaan of Koch Behaar and took step for unification of the common people. He established “Naamghar”, Satra and “Thaan” for propagation of Ek sharan Hari Naam Dharma. The “Naamghar” and “Thaan” are the centre place for practice and exhibition of Shankaree culture and Shankaree religion. After the death of his disciples Maadhavdev, Daamodardev, Haridev the Thaan were named as Satra. But during the period of Shankardev and his disciples, these Thaan were known as Bardovaa Thaan, Paatbaausee Thaan. Gaangmou Thaan, Belguri Thaan and so on. Mahaapurush Shreemanta Shankardev had to face strong opposition from the king and common people for establishing his doctrine Ek Sharan Hari Naam Dharma by keeping away the superstitious traditions. But he went ahead by embracing the only truth “Krishna Himself is the God” (Krishnashtu Bhagavaan Swayam).
