house of Harasingha Boraa (known as Harisingaa Boraa also). Father of Maadhavdev was Gobindagiri Bhooyaan (Bhuyan) and mother was Manoramaa. Gobindagiri Bhooyaan was serving as high rank officer under Prataapraay Bhooyaan, the adminintrator of Bandukaa in Baanglaadesh. Maadhavdev started his primary education in the sanskrit school of Harasingha Boraa. After that he went to Bandukaa with his father Gobindagiree and studied for one year at Bandukaa. During formal education he studied kaayastha profession, logic, principle of judiciary and different scriptures.
During stay at Bandukaa his father died. After that by taking farewell from his step elder brother Daamodar, he arrived at the house of Gayaapaani at bharaaleedubi of Assam & there he met his mother Monoramaa. Gayaapani was his sister-in-law.
Maadhavdev was shaakta and he worshipped Doorgaa Devee. During mother’s illness Maadhavdev decided to sacrifice a male goat in the name of Doorgaa Devee. During Doorga Poojaa he requested Gayaapaani to arrange a male goat, but Gayaapaani denied and told about the doctrine of Mahaapurush Shreemanta Shankardev. Then Maadhavdev expressed his desire to argue in this matter with Shankardev. Thus Maadhavdev accompanied with Gayaapaani arrived at Dhovaahaat Belguri of Maajulee in the year 1522 A.D. Just after introduction the argument started. Maadhavdev started giving logic through the aagam scriptures in favour of idol worship and shankardev started giving logic through the nigam scripture & this way Shankardev super-seded the logics of Madhavdeva. At the end Shreemanta Shankardev started recitating the shloka from thirty one chapter of fourth part of Mahaabhaagavat puraan and this is as follows –

So prayer to Krishna is prayer to all gods and goddesses. Maadhavdev was impressed by Shankardev’s heart touching scriptural verse and Maadhavdev bowed down to Shankardev and said – “My first bow down to you was respect to the post of Barbhooyaan (Bor Bhuyan) and now I have bowed down to your feet by surrendering myself to you and I have obeyed you as my Spiritual preceptor. “ (mentioned from asameeyaa book “Shree Shree Maadhavdev” composed by Dr. Mahesvar Neog based on
